The CALGreen Checklist is a form that is required to be submitted with your building permit application. The purpose of the checklist is to document which California Green Building Standards Code, or “CALGreen” (Title 24, Part 11, of the California Code of Regulations) items your project will comply with and to specify requirements for applications regulated by the California Building Standards Commission (BSC), California Energy Commission (CEC), Division of the State Architect (DSA), Department of Public Health (CDPH), Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD), and the Department of Water Resources (DWR).
It’s important to know that almost every building department has a different checklist requirement. Because there no standard checklist acceptable throughout California, understanding, CALGreen is crucial. As California codes grow and change so often,, and we know it may seem impossible to keep up. In 2010, AIA California started developing a guide for members to better understand the requirements of the checklist. Both the residential and nonresidential guides outline the mandatory measures, including the most recent errata and supplements.
In response to the most recent code cycle changes, the guides being released today define the most up-to-date information possible, including the supplements from July 2021.
